Gingrich Concerned About GOP's Fortunes

April 17, 2006 12:52 PM

ABC News reports: "Newt Gingrich Worries About GOP Chances in November, Saying Americans Seem to Want Change"
Newt Gingrich was certainly right the last time he saw America ripe for change in power. But it is my hope Democrats too feel the sting of losing 10% or more of their incumbents to a VOID vision spreading among voters throughout the land. No other single event will have the same potential to motivate bi-partisan real life solutions to our nation's problems. No other election event or outcome holds the same promise for Congress solving more problems than it creates.

Saw that this morning.
Hope they ignore him.
Could be they both get a surprise in November?
And, what to Americans have to be upset about?

  • Median wages have fallen for 6 consecutive years,
  • the wealthy got big tax cuts,
  • the g a p between the top 1% of the wealthiest and the remaing 99% of Americans has never been larger since the Great Depression of 1929
  • foreclosures have been rising for 13 consecutive months
  • the middle-class tax payer is getting squeezed from all sides
  • %National Debt to GDP (now at 68%, up from 33% in 1980) has never been higher since WWII.
  • a looming generational storm as younger tax payers become increasingly resentful of the heavy burden of entitlements since $12.8 trillion has been plundered from Social Security (not to mention the cost of Medicare)
  • and polls show Americans don't think we're on the right path
  • Iraq, no WMD, bad intelligence, mismanagement, etc.
  • rampant pork-barrel while troops go without body armor and medical attention
  • abuse of eminent domain laws
  • . . . more . . .

Seems like government has totally BUBARed (Bushed Up Beyond All Recognition) everything it has touched (Iraq, Katrina, Social Security, Medicare, Illegal Immigration, etc., etc., etc.).

Government, for quite a few decades now, seems to have a knack for creating problems, and solving none.
