Sen. Ted Stevens Spells Hope!

When the electorate, predominantly Republican, will elect a Democrat, rather than their convicted felon incumbent Sen. Ted Stevens, there is hope and reason to work within the Vote Out Incumbents Democracy movement and organization. Congratulations Alaska, on narrowly doing the right thing. We empathize with the only other choice being a Democrat.

OK, Americans in the lower 48 and Hawaii. It's your turn to do the right thing and vote out your own politicians who are inept, corrupt, or just plain ineffective in solving the problems our nation and we the people, are faced with.

You have 2 years, to learn how your incumbent politicians are serving your interests, if at all. You have two years to prepare yourself to vote differently than you ever have before: not for a party's candidate, but, on the merits or demerits of your representative's contributions to solutions.

Remember, the political parties have but one master, acquiring and keeping power. If you want solutions to our national problems, you have to vote against incompetence and party loyalists, and vote for individuals who are committed to solutions instead of party politics.

If enough of us vote in this manner, the political parties will yield to a new master, the voter, and their demand for solutions. If we kick enough incumbents out of office, Democrat and Republican, both parties will compete for our support with real solutions, instead of lies, mudslinging, and propaganda. It is up to us to follow Alaska's lead in voting out their corrupt incumbent. And make no mistake, the political parties work feverishly to corrupt every freshman coming into federal office. That is how they work.

It is up to us to insure the freshman know they have no political future in office without putting our demand for solutions ahead of party politics and arm twisting. It is us they work for, not their political party. That is the message we must communicate with our vote.

Yes, that is encouraging.

Here's the break-down to date for re-election rates and party-seat retention rates (some results are still pending):

464 members (464 / 535 = 86.7%) of Congress were re-elected (378 (223(D)+155(R)+0(I)) in the House + 86 (46(D)+ 38(R)+2(I))in the Senate).

There were only 71 members ousted from Congress (57 (13(D)+44(R)) in the House + 14 (3(D)+11(R) in the Senate).

NOTE: There are 5 of 6 seats still To Be Determined in the Senate, and 4 of 4 seats still To Be Determined in the House.

At any rate, the voters have the government that the voters elect (and re-elect, and re-elect, and re-elect , . . . , at least until that finally becomes too painful).
