If we, the people of the United States of America, will not make Democracy work, what people of which nation, will?

"....each day we make history, but our days become increasingly limited....
....what is our place in history, and what have we made of it?"

Did it ever occur to any one of us in our youth that the very foundations of our Nation and Democracy could one day be at risk from internal political causes?

After all, our forefathers had built these foundations, and had already written a proud history of America for us! Today, however, the future of our children, grandchildren and, indeed, that of America seems again to be at stake.

John Adams believed the legislative branch of the new government of the United States
would require two separate bodies to maintain the integrity of both, because "... a single assembly could grow avaricious....exempt itself from burdens....become ambitious and after some time vote itself perpetual ...."

It has become increasingly obvious over the course of our few generations that Congress has become dysfunctional and incapable of reasoned action, in spite of being comprised of "two separate bodies".

Today, Congress operates as a bloated, single body that is paralyzed by appetite for power and self-aggrandizement only. Lobbies nurture these appetites, and our congressmen promote their own welfare at the expense of the People, and our Nation. Lesson learned!

The Declaration of Independence says:

that to secure the Rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness "....Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed.... whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive to these Ends,
it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it...."
.
In any enterprise, an employee working for personal benefit at the expense of the enterprise will be summarily dismissed. We, the People, are the Employers of our Congress. Our Congress is incapacitated. It is time for the People to act: THIS INCUMBENT CONGRESS MUST GO!

Our congressmen hold their job by the good grace of OUR VOTE, or, by our lack of interest. A Lesson has been learned by the People - our Congress must, too, learn a Lesson: Congressmen are elected to conduct Business of State, not business of personal estate!

I encourage readers to consider two proposals:

Proposal 1: Compulsory voting, on a declared National Election Day Holiday,
will go far to mitigate a "lack of interest" in voting.

Proposal 2: Our President works under a two-term limit. A two-term limit for Senators and a three-term limit for Representatives are sufficient to insure continuity in our Government.

Your feedback on these options are welcome.
Thank you for considering these words.
