Who and What is Kentucky VOID

Kentucky Vote Out Incumbents Democracy (VOID)

As of this writing, Oct. 2, 2006, Kentucky VOID is just getting organized. We are developing our web site as our base of operations for carrying out the VOID Mission in our state.

Our goal and mission are the same as the national Vote Out Incumbents Democracy organization's, but targeted toward U.S. Congress representatives from Kentucky, specifically.

Since we are a newly formed local chapter of VOID, our primary target election for voting out incumbents in Kentucky will be the 2008 races for U.S. Congress. We must start organizing now to maximize a significant impact 2008's Congressional races. Of course, we are trying to reach as many as possible with this web site for the 2006 elections as well. With the anti-incumbent support growing across the nation, the volunteers and supporters of Vote Out Incumbents Democracy have every expectation of being able to wield some significant clout in the 2008 elections, affecting outcomes of some key district races.

VOID's goal is to reduce the national reelection rate in 2008 by at least 20%. A reduction of incumbent reelections by 20% is what will be required to achieve state, local, and national media coverage of our effect and to put remaining incumbents on notice, that they may be next to lose if positive changes in politics and governance are not achieved.

The VOID Directors and Kentucky VOID volunteers, can only guide and point the way. It is up to you, the American voters, to insure the success of VOID's mission with contributions, memberships, and volunteer hours. Kentucky VOID will help supply the support base and funding to:

1) buy advertising in key election districts in 2008.
2) to vote in challengers and vote out incumbents in sufficient numbers to generate national media attention to the Vote Out Incumbents movement and need for reforms and clean-up.
3) to generate the support base who will contact our representatives when Kentucky VOID puts out a 'call to action' notice, which will compel action by our representatives for needed reforms in areas like ending deficits, election reform, campaign finance reform, securing our nation, and protecting and defending our American freedoms and liberties laid out in our Constitution.

We know positive changes in American politics and governance will not take place in one election cycle. We know such changes will require a growing anti-incumbent movement over several election cycles as far out as 2014 perhaps, to bring about the goals of forcing politicians to heed the needs of the nation and her citizen's first, before the needs of wealthy campaign donors, special interest lobbyists, personal and party greed. Therefore, as long as the annual numbers of supporters for VOID continues to grow, our organization will continue to work and aid voters in restoring American politics and governance to what it should it have been all along.

History.

Kentucky VOID has no history yet, other than to launch this web site and begin gathering Hoosier State supporters. You can however view the history of the national VOID organization by clicking here.

Other Notes about VOID.

VOID and its state and local chapters accept no sponsorship from any political party or candidates. VOID does not advocate for any political party. VOID's efforts and hopes partially rest on motivating the almost 50% of eligible voters who don't vote, to register and vote as well as convincing registered voters of the merits of the Vote Out Incumbents goal and mission.

Staff and guest writer editorials are the opinions of their authors and do not necessarily reflect the goals, motives, or, intentions of the VOID organization. Comments to articles on Kentucky VOID's web site in no way represent the views, or beliefs of the VOID organization or, its staff.

Good Bye Incumbents.

I have been informed and checked out a new anti-incumbent web site. It is very nicely done and provides very good coverage of the current event issues that warrant voters critically evaluating the vote for or against their representative this November.

The site is called "Good Bye Incumbents" and it is a very well laid out and easy site to read and navigate. My only criticism is they don't permit comments to their column articles. It is however a great information site with lots of photos for those who need them to keep the visual interest and attention span going. Very well done. Congratulations to Jack Walsh, the site designer. And welcome Jack to the anti-incumbent movement.

UPDATE: Jack Walsh has implemented comments to his articles on his site. Good move. Check it out.

GOP Out: Voter's Defense Guide

OK, now that the GOP is out, how can voters protect themselves from the Democratic Party? GOP out I say? OK, let me count the ways so we can move on to the Voter's Defense Guide.

GOP Out of power:

The easiest way to evidence this claim is to simply reference this week's news headlines and accompanying articles.

Nuff said!

Suffrage: Not what we expected.

Rational, thoughtful, educated, informed, and with a vested interest; these were the hopes of many of America's founders for the integral characteristics of those who vote and participate in the democracy portion of our Republic. Universal suffrage wasn't even close to being considered desirable at the founding of our nation.

Yet, universal suffrage is what we have delivered unto ourselves in the name of Women's rights, African American rights, Civil Rights, and Ignorant and Uneducated Rights. America decided that even the ignorant and uneducated are entitled to a voice in electing not just their district representatives of the U.S. House of Representatives as originally intended, but the Senate and the President as well.

A REVOLUTION TO TAKE BACK THE U.S. CONGRESS

by Nelson Lee Walker

I am proposing that we create a popular, bloodless, political revolution in our country.

I believe that it is very necessary, very possible, and very doable.

The object of this revolution is the destruction of the professional political class which currently dominates and corrupts the US Congress.

I am convinced, as are many, many voters, that the bulk of our country's political problems arises out of this 'permanent' Congressional political class, and their devotion to party power and to the financial special interests keeping them in power.

The anti-incumbent vote is the power our Constitution provides the people to control their elected representatives and process of government.

Power in Small Numbers

Third parties and independent candidates for federal office, as well as half of the eligible voters in this country, utterly fail to recognize the power they hold in the palms of their hands. The power of just a small number of them to radically alter American politics as well as substantially, and significantly, reform American government is right there in front of them. Yet, so far, they have refused to see it and seize it for their own. Some who do see it, recoil from it. Is power in politics such a frightening thing? Perhaps, but not for long.
