A Skeptical Supporter

Following is an email from a skeptical supporter for Voting Out Incumbents and my reply.

> Hi,
>
> You need to make some changes in the web site. You don't look like a meaningful cause, almost another third party. Something to ignore..
>
(DR): I have to respectfully disagree on our looking like a third party. Your proposal that we adopt a platform of issues is what would make us a defacto third party in a sea of them. We are a single issue organization, restoring responsiveness of politicians to the voters, instead of lobbyists, special interests and wealthy donors. That is our only issue, and by limiting ourselves to that single issue, we have ability to reach far more citizens who have very differing issues they care about and disappointments in government.

Email from C-Span listener!

I am a new reader of your web site, I heard about you on c-span so I did a google on you, I have not yet read all about you but I can tell you that I am fed up with most all of our politicians in DC, they do not listen to what we the people say or want and we need big change to correct this.

I am disgusted with most everything, prescription drug bill, illegal immigration, our high deficit, the war in Iraq, the tax policy, the pork barrel spending, the corruption in congress, Tom DeLay, Cunningham, Abramoff, Scooter Libby the list goes on and on we need major change and I am wondering if that is what you are all about.

Lautenberg WhistleBlower Legislation

I received the following in Email from the Government Accountability Project:

Groups Hail Lautenberg Whistleblower Bill

Washington, D.C. - The Government Accountability Project (GAP) today welcomed new legislation introduced by Senator Frank Lautenberg (D.-N.J.) to strengthen whistleblower protection: The Whistleblower Empowerment, Security and Taxpayer Protection Act of 2006. Lautenberg's bill is designed to complement core reforms in S. 494, legislation he co-sponsored with Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chair Susan Collins (R.-Me.) and Senator Daniel Akaka (D.-Hi.). Although Collins' committee unanimously has approved the good government reform each of the last three congresses, Senate leaders have refused to schedule a vote at the Justice Department's urging. The American Whistleblowers League joins GAP in hailing the legislation.

From: A Patriot

Good for you for organizing this!

I changed my party registration from Republican to Independent in 2002.

Both parties are a disgrace, and nothing's going to change. Anyone who thinks so is dreaming.

I'm voting for every Independent, Libertarian, etc. on the ballot from now on. It's time for revolution.

Best,

From: Glenn Parish

I totally support voting out all incumbents, in fact I thought of it before I discovered VOID tonight. I would like to make one constructive suggestion: please don't advocate voting for a third party candidate if one is available. By doing this you reduce your chances of defeating the incumbent by wasting a vote that could have gone to the most likely successful challenger.
