The incumbent from the 6th district of Virginia released this news bulletin following the vote to bail out Wall Street. The following are two paragraphs from that release.
Our economy faces historic and unprecedented challenges. Most importantly Congress must not view the passage of the Financial Stabilization Package as the lone solution to the troubles in our national economy. It is critical that Congress continue to examine the root cause of this crisis, including fiscal irresponsibility and a lack of resolve to rebuild our domestic economy, including energy production.
I remain committed to working with Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to ensure that businesses are held accountable for their actions, which should help restore long term confidence in our financial markets and set our economy back on the right track.
Do we want more of the same? Shouldn't Members of Congress be held accountable for their actions, as well? For twenty years this congressional harmony has existed and seems to be getting stronger. NOW, we are asking people to consider getting involved to put an end to this harmonious congressional behavior. This harmonious congressional behavior is usually referred to as gridlock. The harmonious part is you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.
Take the bailout that just passed both the Senate and the House. The first bill was rejected by the House, I'm sure for a lot of reasons, some valid, some not so valid. So the Senate takes up the bill and guess what???What started out as an arbitrary $700 billion, grew another $125 billion. The $125 billion went to buy votes in the House, so the bill would pass. Go ask your congressman, what the $125 billion is to be spent on?
Please consider becoming a member of VIRGINIA VOID and help spread the word. Vote responsibly and stop this reckless way of running our country and government.
