California governor recall election date set – Daily Democrat

The California governor’s recall election will be held in September, and Yolo County residents interested in running must file their candidacy with the county election office.
The signing in lieu of the filing fee period will go until Tuesday, and applicants can file from July 9 through July 16, according to a statement from Katharine Campos, deputy registrar and chief information officer. with the Yolo County Assessor / Clerk. -Recorder / Elections.
Residents of Yolo County who wish to declare their candidacy should make an appointment with the Yolo County Election Office to receive and deliver the required documents. An appointment can be made at YoloCountyACE.as.me/elections2021 or by calling (530) 666-8133. Candidate application documents can be downloaded from yoloelections.org/candidate-services. Documents can be printed and completed before the appointment.
The September 14 elections – announced Thursday by Secretary of State Eleni Kounalakis – will decide whether or not current Governor Gavin Newsom will be removed from office. If recalled, a new governor will be chosen.
Registered voters will receive a ballot for the election by mail, which can be mailed or deposited in an official ballot box. In-person voting will take place at Voter Support Centers. Boxes and centers will be announced once locations are confirmed.
