Center County Election Update – ABC23
In many county election offices, as staff prepare for the upcoming general election in November, they are still dealing with questions about past elections.
At the Center County Elections Office, a huge increase in recent right-to-know requests
“We have, there has been an increase in right to know laws, so we have a lot of relevant information for 2020, 2022 readily available”
County Commissioner Chairman Michael Pipe points out that if it’s public information, the county makes it a priority to meet the demand for information. Across the country, there are similar reports of the significant
increased requests for election information, particularly for 2020 voting results.
Center County officials also stress that it will not divert election office staff in preparation for the November election.
In fact, the county just filled a new position, hiring a vote-by-mail coordinator.
“Coordinate when they go out. ensure that the supplier sent them in a timely manner, people receive them. also ensuring drop boxes are open, when ballots are returned they can be safely secured”
For the upcoming Nov. 8 election, one week before Nov. 1 is the deadline for a county election office to receive an application for an absentee or mail-in ballot.
