Election Integrity in Madison County

HUNTSVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) – How safe is your vote? Madison County Election Commission Chairman Larry Easterling said voter fraud is rare.
According to Easterling, a lot of work is needed to ensure the accuracy of the poll results. This year, requiring ID at the polls adds an extra layer of security. Double-checking voting machines at the end of the night is also essential.
“We’re still doing a vote test and testing all the machines to make sure we’re staying with a zero count,” Easterling said. “We check every machine, and if every machine isn’t working properly, we take every machine down until we know we’re at the correct number.”
A Madison County voter said he was confident in the integrity of the election and felt his vote mattered.
“I trust everyone here at the courthouse for the job they do. They put a lot of work into it and I appreciate it,” said Madison County resident Tye Rudolph.
Easterling said if someone is charged with voter fraud, they could face steep fines and potential jail time.
