Message for American Citizens: Upcoming Special Elections in Texas and Ohio
Event: U.S. citizens registered to vote in Texas or Ohio must now submit a mail-in ballot for this special election for federal office to betake place in the next 90 days:
July 27, 2021: Texas Second Round Special Election in US Congressional District 6 *
August 3, 2021: Ohio Special Primary Election in Congressional Districts 11 and 15 **
* The State of Texas will host a special second round on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, to fill a vacant position for the 6e Congressional District, which includes parts of Ellis and Navarro counties and part of Tarrant County. Service members, eligible family members and overseas citizens registering to vote for the first time can use the automated Federal Postcard Application Completion (FPCA) tool available on fvap. gov / FPCA or use the fillable PDF version. Voters can send their completed and signed FPCA to their local election office by EMAIL, COURIER or FAX. If sent by email or post, FPCA must be received by the county no later than July 16. Email is strongly encouraged. (In the case of a fax, the fax must be received by July 16 and the original must be received by mail by the county on July 4e business day). Voters who receive their postal ballot must return it by MAIL or FAX (fax only if located in a hostile fire zone) and postmarked by 7:00 p.m. on July 27, 2021. ** The State of Ohio will be holding two special primary elections on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, to fill a vacant position for the 11e Congress District, which includes parts of Cuyahoga and Summit counties and the 15e Congressional District, which includes all of Clinton, Fairfield, Hocking, Madison, Morgan, Perry, Pickaway and Vinton and parts of Athens, Fayette, Franklin and Ross counties. Service members, eligible family members, and overseas citizens registering to vote for the first time can use the automated Federal Postcard Application Completion (FPCA) tool available at the address fvap.gov/FPCA or use the PDF version to fill in. Voters can send their completed and signed FPCA to their local election office by EMAIL, COURIER or FAX by July 6. Already registered Ohio voters can use the FPCA to request their mail-in ballot until July 31 at noon. must send by MAIL by 12:01 am on August 3, 2021. Voters in all states can check the status of their voting materials by contacting their election office directly.
Voters who do not receive the requested ballot in time to return it before the ballot return deadline can send the Federal Absentee Registration Bulletin (FWAB) at their electoral office as a reserve ballot. If the elector’s official ballot arrives after sending the FWAB, he or she can also complete and submit the official ballot. Only one ballot will be counted.
FVAP offers an email-to-fax forwarding service for voters in states that do not allow return of ballots by email. Voters who do not have access to a fax machine can send their completed ballot to [email protected] and FVAP will fax the ballot to the appropriate polling station.
