YS Jagan Mohan Reddy confused on Mangalagiri strategy?
TDP Senior Leader Ganji Chiranjeevi had joined the YSR Congress in the presence of YS Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. There were rumors that Chiranjeevi would be the candidate for Mangalagiri’s party, but it turned out otherwise.
Mangalagiri, the current MP Alla Rama Krishna Reddy, has announced that he will also run in the same constituency in 2024.
Ganji Chiranjeevi will be appointed Chairman of the Weavers Wing of the YSR Congress in place of Kurnool MP Dr. Sanjeev Kumar.
If Alla makes it to the contest, it will definitely be a big surprise. He faces severe anti-incumbency as well, and political pundits say a candidate from British Columbia will be a better bet for the YSRCP in this scenario.
At the same time, Chiranjeevi is also not a strong candidate for Mangalagiri. Chiranjeevi has always had no strength on his own and what he was is due to some extent to the strength of the party and the strength of the community.
The fact that no TDP leader has gone out with him is an indication of this.
Former cabinet minister Nara Lokesh, who lost that seat in 2019, has been doing serious homework in the constituency ever since. All surveys point to Lokesh in 2024
